Itinerary

Depart en route for Bordeaux – Merignac Airport

Meet Lil and board our private bus.  Transfer to the hotel located in the center of the city.  Check-in our rooms followed by a welcome cocktail and a light stroll with our guide to discover landmarks and familiarize ourselves with the vicinity of our hotel.

Dinner together and a good night’s sleep.

Breakfast followed by a guided visit through the scenery and history of that beautiful town.  Panoramic visit from our bus followed by lunch at “Le Quatrième Mur” owned and run by the notorious chef Etchebest, located in the “Grand Theatre” in Bordeaux center.  Afternoon, discovery of the vineyard Bordelais through a teaching at l’école du vin (wine school) with a wonderful wine tasting,  descriptions and Q&A.

Return to the hotel with dinner together

We will be welcomed at the Chateau Villemaurine, grand cru classe.  Visit of an immense, natural underground cellar, dug by hand where the wine rests.  Tasting of this unbelievable wine.

Lunch at “La Table de Pavie” (two Michelin star) with a beautiful view on the lower part of the village.  In the afternoon we will be guided through the different corridors of the largest European monolith church.  Free time to stroll at ease in this scenic part of the world.

Return to the hotel for an evening on your own.

Breakfast and departure for “la Dune du Pilat”, (tallest sand dune in Europe located near Bordeaux) – over 100 meters high which moves inland by several feet each year.  Our journey will follow towards the Bassin d’Arcachon with an exquisite lunch at “Chez Pierre” known for its fresh seafood and shellfish specialties. Visit of the typical Villas Arcachonnaises.  A panoramic view of this prestigious area, its winter town, relating its rich past throughout architectural inspired neo classic style and neo gothic style, Swiss chalet and colonial houses.

Return to the hotel for dinner together.

Breakfast, departure for the amazing region of the World most recognized brandy, Cognac.  We will learn about the history of this interesting little town, which bares the same name as the spirit, totally unknown prior to the 9th century, with a guided visit of its medieval streets and explanation on when and how it did become famous.  Lunch at “Les Foudres” followed by a guided visit of the world’s best name in brandy with tasting and descriptions, including opportunities for interesting purchases.

Return to the hotel via a nice panoramic visit on our way back and then an evening on your own.

Breakfast and departure for a “Day in Périgord”.  The morning will entail a visit of the well-known Sarlat, our guide will walk us through the city of art and history with its brilliant architecture and its historical monuments.  Its medieval streets and bright plazas are the most pleasant and not to be missed.

Lunch at “La Petite Tonnelle”, on the edge of the Dordogne in one of the most beautiful villages in France.  Afternoon, we will climb onboard a Gabare (barge) and will travel down the Dordogne River to discover some of the beautiful castles in France.  Finishing this little cruise at the home of Josephine Baker (“The Black Pearl”), 1906-1975, where we will enjoy a tour of her home and visit a special display of the animals she loved.

Return to the hotel for an evening on your own and a well-deserved rest.

Breakfast and departure for a “Day in the Sauternes Region”.  Visit of Chateau de Myrat, the property of the Pontac family, one of the Grands Crus Classes of Sauternes.  We will discover the cellar and learn directly from the owner about this very intriguing way of harvesting, accompanied with a tasting of this delicious beverage.  We will be guided through the English garden and the wooded alley in the Centennial Forest where pheasant, squirrel and deer have chosen to live.  Lunch in the region of Cadillac in renowned local establishment.  Afternoon visit of the castle of Cadillac, originally a 16th century Fortress.

Return to the hotel and enjoy a light cocktail party and them time for packing.

The all-inclusive price includes hotel, ground transportation, most meals with wine (with the opportunity on some evenings to venture out for your own dining pleasure), all guided visits and excursions, taxes and fees.

Airfare is not included – we will advise you what time you will need to arrive

This price is based on the Euro exchange rate not climbing over 1.35 US dollars to the Euro. To reserve your space a $1000 per person non-refundable deposit is due.  A non-refundable payment of 50% due by March 6th and balance due by June 6th.
